My life the musical, 2013

As we say hello to 2104, let's have really quick review of the year that was. Now, I'm not gonna bombard you all with the emo-what-have-not stuff with this entry, but instead I'm gonna take you in a journey (excuse my lack of better words) in some of the most amazing musical acts that I witnessed/watched/heard during 2013. And no, I did not watch every concert that was held during the year- though I wanted to, but monetary reasons did not allow me- but I did get to catch 2 music legends perform that were way beyond my dreams. I'm not gonna make this introduction any more longer so here it goes...

In chronological Order

Swedish House Mafia
17 January 2013 @ The Singapore Indoor Stadium

This started as asking my friends in twitter this question: "What the hell is SHM and why is everybody using that hashtag?" and the next thing I know is, my friend calls me up, asks me to be in the Indoor Stadium after work, and boom! Free concert tickets! I can't say that I am not a fan of SHM but after watching them kill the crowd, I'm having second opinions about them and house music.

St. Jerome's Laneway Festival
26 January 2013 @ The Meadows, Gardens by the Bay

I'm not gonna put you through a long description on how awesome this festival was, because I already did that in another entry, but in case you haven't read it yet, here's a link to it: click me!

The Big Night Out
30 January 2013 @ The Fort Canning Park

The big night out in Singapore featured The Band of Horses,  Vampire Weekend, and Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. I was pretty psyched about watching VW, I've been a huge fan since high school and I've been itching to watch then since, and they did not fail. And yes, who could ever forget Karen O, who rocked the stage, if only I could give her an award for best female performer of the year, I will! She was absolutely crazy and I love her so much! She's definitely on the top of my list!

Bloc Party
18 March 2013 @ The Fort Canning Park

I've been a fan of Bloc Party since summer of 2006 when I first heard them in my sister's iPod and I've been inlove with their music ever since. There's just something about their style and lyrics that puts you in a coma and hearing them live was just aahh, sends shivers down my spine. This has got to be one of  the craziest concerts ever, the crowd went bazingga! I got squashed and trampled by a bunch of mad fans, got lost in the middle of the moshpit and help this guy surf the crowd! It was madness I tell you! madness!

Tegan and Sara
13 May 2013 @ The Esplanade

All hail the LGBT community! That's all I can say. What I love about this concert is how Tegan and Sara connected with the people, they carried the crowd so casually, it's like we were just a bunch of friends having a coffee in a cafe. The connection was just priceless. And did I say that I absolutely have girl crushes on them. tee-hee.

Wanderland Music Festival
17 May 2013 @ Globe Circuit Events Grounds, Makati

One of the best reasons to pay a visit home is attending a music festival. Again, I'm not gonna go on and on about Wanderland, just read my entry about it here.

Aerosmith
25 May 2013 @ The Meadows, Gardens by the Bay

Never could I have imagined that I would get to watch Aerosmith live, for free! Yup, I got 2 tickets from a good friend, after he saw my all my concert savvy photos in Facebook, he thought I wanted to go and so he called me up, and gave me tickets, 4 hours before the concert. Steven Tyler has more energy than I do with redbull. The crows were a mixture of fans from different generations, and all I could think of was my dad and how we would love this concert!

The XX
2 August 2013 @ The Star Theater

Awesome light show, is all I can say. Their music and the lights just put everybody in a state of trance. It was just so surreal to watch them live. Though, they never did interacted with the crowd during the show, their music was enough to let you connect with them.

Metallica
24 August 2013 @ Changi Exhibition Centre

Epic! Just epic! I know a lot of huge Metallica fans (especially my friends from Manila) wanted to watch this legendary band live, and I was super lucky to score free tickets, because you know, connections. I don't think words can suffice on how great this band was live. Fans from all generations head banged to their music, it was such a site! \m/ \m/ \m/

I could not and cannot think of more combination of words of how grateful I am for having watched these bands during the year that was, just awesome (for lack of better words.)

Thinking about posting some videos soon.
