B I N T A N, I N D O N E S I A

There's something about the combination of salt water, sand and the sun that emits good vibrations. The beach has always been my top favourite places in the world. It's like there's nothing that could go wrong whenever you're under the sun relaxing and having fun. 2 weeks ago, my friends and I finally had time to go to the beach, a real beach. Not Sentosa! (I am against Sentosa, and I don't count it as a legit beach, and I dare not swim there.) We hopped on a ferry boat at Tanah Merah jetty port early in the morning and alas, after 45 minutes or so, we arrived in Bintan, Indonesia!

Bintan or Negeri Segantang Lada (in local terms) is a small island located at the south of Singapore. (correct me if I'm wrong). It is part of the Riau archipelago of Indonesia. It takes you only about 40-45 minutes of boat ride from Singapore. Who would have known that amidst the hustle and bustle of the busy streets of the city, is a small calm island. It was my second time going here and also my second time checking in at Bintan Lagoon resort. Though the beach is not as stunning as most beaches, its the best closest thing that we can have.

(1) The famous tree of Bintan Lagoon Resorts, yes it's famous, you can find this tree at almost any site that promotes the island. (2) Meet our feet. The bucketeers!

What I like about Bintan is that it's cheap and near. If you're looking for a quick getaway trip, then this is perfect. It's good for an overnight stay and also for a quick day trip, I mean c'mon it's only 45 minutes away. Give yourself a break and just go. Oh, and did I mention that it's cheap? Well, I guess it depends on the accommodations that you choose, as for us broke younglings, we have no choice but to get the cheapest and most reasonable room. And it's not that bad at all, our room was pretty clean and big, and the bathroom was good enough (yes, I have to mention the bathroom)

(1&2) This is how we roll. Making espasol in the sand.

Food was not a problem as well, we had our quick fix of pizza and nachos while playing a good game of Monopoly deal at the resort's restaurant. We had time to spare while waiting for check-in time, since we got there early. The nachos were delicious, either that, or we were just extremely hungry. The pizza was not that bad too, though it was not out or the ordinary. It was a do-it-yourself kind of pizza, you get to choose your toppings, as for us we chose lots and lots of cheese. Don't ask me about dinner, 'coz I don't remember eating dinner. As for breakfast, my oh my, it was a feast, it was a buffet breakfast. Don't judge me, because I love breakfast food and I don't know what's good and bad breakfast food, all  breakfast food are good! :)

But I guess time and money is not the question of how the weekend went by, it's the good company that counts.
