"Stoked with the smell of kalawang"

I'm not a surfer, but I really enjoyed my first surfing trip with my friends way back Summer of 2011. It was actually a spontaneous trip, we headed for the North side of Luzon at 3am in the morning, packed nothing but our adventurous selves and change of clothes of course. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing the sunrise at your car window as you cruise in the empty highways of Manila, listening to the perfect road trip playlist, after another hectic school year. It was our first summer hoorah of our first summer not as students but as teachers.

San Felipe, Zambales is just about 3 hours away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but it may seem like you're already in another country. Unlike the other beaches, this one is undeveloped, untouched and yes, A surfer's paradise.

My friends checked out the waves. I was shocked as I saw how big the waves were and they said they were  "small" it was my first time to see such humongous waves. I was giddy, excited and scared all at the same time.

We got kuya instructors to teach us the basic of surfing for 350php and hour. That already includes board rental. I got wiped out a couple of times and almost drowned and died 2 times I drank what seems like a gallon of salt water and got my nose partially broken. I cried a bit coz I thought it was my last day on earth. But it was ALL GOOD! I'm still alive aren't I? No pain, no gain! :)

Good vibes all the way. All the way good vibes! :) Until our next surfing trip! :) It was one hell of a poso negro experience
